I'm spending the holidays in the UK this year, getting some much-needed catchup time with friends, family, and the cafes I used to live in all the time. So I've been thinking again about UK birds, and how different many of them are from US birds, even if they have the same names.

I only discovered recently that even US and UK blackbirds are different, even though, oddly, their calls are not too dissimilar from what I've heard, though they're not related, as far as I can tell.

Also, when it comes to tiny spherical feather balls, wrens are totally the best!
